Kristin Desiderio is a sculpture and installation artist whose work investigates the commodity fetish in contemporary culture. She critiques and comments upon the social, economic and military state of the United States through toy-like products and installations. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in May 2006 and completed her undergraduate work at The Ohio State University in 2003.
Currently, Kristin is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In addition, she is also a Visiting Lecturer at The Ohio State University. She received these appointments upon returning from an eight-week artist residency in Zofingen, Switzerland.
Kristin was awarded the residency upon winning the International Sculpture Centers 2005 Outstanding Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. As part of the residency, she exhibited the works she created during her stay at the Art-St-Urban museum in St. Urban, Switzerland.
